Sustainable Development Goal 4 calls for inclusive and quality education for all and promotion of lifelong learning.
To promote the achievement of SDG 4, the M-Pesa Foundation continues to invest in the education of bright students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through the M-Pesa Foundation Academy. The academy is a state-of-the-art mixed boarding high school that seeks to provide a first class, unique education to gifted but economically disadvantaged children from across Kenya. It offers Kenya’s education system, 8-4-4.
As of 2018, the academy had admitted 489 students.
Previously, the foundation has supported the construction and equipping of eight classrooms, a library, dormitory, a wastewater treatment plant and a multi-million sports field at Starehe Girlsâ Centre, a national boarding school that offers secondary education to financially disadvantaged girls from across Kenya.
